Okay, this is scary.
It's been four-and-a-half years since I last updated my website and
posted any news. For that I truly apologize. But I'm
also celebrating! It's been five years since my breast cancer
diagnosis and I remain cancer free! So, I hope you will
celebrate with me and understand that this has been an interesting
journey -- one that's led full circle.
I am now writing again
and loving it. It's been a long time since I've had the urge
to write. I guess I had other issues to deal with (wonder what
those might be!), but now I'm ready to create something new.
And isn't it appropriate that I'll be starting with a new line (or
at least, new for me) . . .
Silhouette
Desire! I'm hoping for a comfortable fit at my
new home, that what I have to offer and what SD wants from me will
mesh well. Even more, I hope SD readers will enjoy the books I
write and that my old Harlequin Romance friends will sneak over and
join me at my new hangout. What better way to celebrate than
to curl up with a good book?
Again, I apologize for
disappearing for a bit. But I do appreciate all the emails of
support and encouragement. And I hope my current readers will
follow me to my new home and that new readers will give me a try.
Happy Holidays! Wishing all of you a healthy, happy, and
successful holiday season!
July
2001 - Update
I debated for quite a
while whether to put this on my website. But then I decided it was
too important not to. So, I'll jump right in. Last fall, I was
diagnosed with breast cancer. I was one of the lucky ones. My
tumor was caught early, thanks to a timely mammogram. Since
November '00, I've had the "pleasure" of chemotherapy and radiation
treatments and am only just now feeling like I'm getting back to
normal. Unfortunately, I haven't been writing for the past nine
months, so there will be a lengthy gap between my last book (The
Provocative Proposal - August 2001) and my next one (The
Whirlwind Wedding - sometime in 2002). I apologize for the
delay, but I was focused on getting better, rather than on writing.
I share this with you
for an important reason. Please.
Get a mammogram. It could save your life. I know that current
medical guidelines don't require a mammogram before the age of 35.
But I disagree with those guidelines. If you're between the ages of
30-40, get a baseline mammogram, if you haven't already. After 30,
continue to get a mammogram every 2-3 years, particularly if you
fall in a high-risk category. And after 40, get them once a year.
Medical science has
made some wondrous advances in this field. But they can't treat
what they don't find. When friends, fellow writers, and relatives
have asked what they could do to help me, I've told them all the
same thing. Get a mammogram for me so that if the worst is found,
you can be successfully treated, too.
After far too much
time off, I'm writing again. Right now I'm finishing up the second
book in my new Wedded Blitz trilogy,
The
Whirlwind Wedding. This is Gray Shaw and Emma Palmer's
story and I'm having a wonderful time writing it.
